The KMC Laboratory Services has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. It is the first large Laboratory in Coastal Karnataka & Northern Kerala to be accredited by NABL.
KMC Laboratory Services also performs special tests for diagnosis of autoimmune disorders like ACP, ANA, ds DNA, ANCA, AMA, ASMA & ANA Profile and Procalcitomin as sepsis marker.

Services:

The Diagnostic Laboratory in the hospital is a well equipped laboratory capable of providing a complete range of investigations in the areas of Clinical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry & Nutrition , Cytopathology, Hematology, Microbiology.

The other services include: Round the clock service, Door step service for sample collection and reports, emailing facility of lab reports, SMS alert for completion of test reports.

Equipments Clinical Pathology

  • Automated 5 part cell counter
  • 4 channel coagulation machine
  • Automated ESR

Clinical Biochemistry & Nutrition

  • Fully Automated Random Access Chemistry Analysers – Hitachi 917 series with ISE, for routine chemistry & electrolytes
  • Cobas e 411 fully automated Hormone analyser – for hormones, tumor markers and others, using recent technique ECLIA
  • Blood gas analyser – for arterial and venous blood gas analysis
  • Osmometer – for Osmolatity measurement of serum/plasma & urine
  • Electrophoresis – for separation and identification of serum proteins and hemoglobins
  • Analysis of Calculi – qualitative analysis of renal & biliary calculi
  • Urines metabolic screening – qualitative tests to detect metabolic abnormality, paper chromatography for urine amino acids

 Microbiology

  • PCR Unit
  • Automated Blood Culture
  • Bact Alert: (Biomerieux): The laboratory has semi automated blood culture system Bact Alert. The advantage of this system is that it can isolate rare & fastidious organisms within 48 hrs of incubation.
  • API System: for identification and antibiotic sensitivity of bacteria.
  • Automated ELISA: (Brio & ELX 800 ms)
  • Automated elisa processor and reader can process 4 different ELISA simultaneously.
  • PCR for Tuberculosis: It is a conventional PCR method to detect IS6110 for identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA
  • Turbidometer: (Tulip Quantiamate) This is used to perform ASO, RA and CRP tests.
